Duas to recite before going to sleep
O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne! Be my protection from the evil of this everlasting night, and the evil of every tyrant and wicked person, and the evil of the devils and their traps, and the evil of every creature that You are seizing by its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
In Your Name, my Lord, I lay down my side, and in Your Name, I rise. If You seize my soul, have mercy upon it, and if You release it, protect it with what You protect Your righteous servants.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and accepted deeds. When the Prophet, peace be upon him, entered the evening, he would say: 'O Allah, by You we enter the evening, and by You we enter the morning, by You we live, and by You we die, and to You is our final return. And when he entered the morning, he would say: 'O Allah, by You we enter the morning, and by You we enter the evening, by You we live, and by You we die, and to You is the resurrection.'
In Your name, my Lord, I lay down my side, and in Your name I rise. If You seize my soul, then have mercy on it. If You release it, then protect it with what You protect Your righteous servants.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.
O Allah, the stars have appeared, and eyes have closed, and You are Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Slumber and sleep do not overtake You. O Allah, make my night peaceful and let my eyes sleep.
All praise is due to Allah Who revived us after causing us to die, and to Him is the [final] return.
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His creation, and from the whispers of devils, and from their presence.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gentle, the Most Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the immense Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask of You the means to Your mercy, the resolve to Your forgiveness, safety from every sin, and the gain of every good deed, and deliverance from every evil. I ask You not to leave any sin of mine except that You forgive it, nor any worry except that You relieve it, nor any need that is pleasing to You except that You fulfill it, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
He (the devil) might change around you by Allah's command. When you wake up, say: 'In the name of Allah, all praise is due to Allah, glory be to Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. There is no might nor power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.' Nothing will harm you.
O Allah, I have submitted my face to You, entrusted my affairs to You, and sought refuge in You for protection, desiring You and fearing You. There is no refuge or safety from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You sent.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the actions of Shaytan and from bad dreams.
