Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What have you encountered during this night?' He said: 'A demon from among the jinn came to me and tried to interrupt my prayer, but Allah enabled me to overpower him. I wanted to tie him to one of the pillars of the mosque so that you all could see him in the morning, but I remembered the dua of my brother Sulaiman: 'My Lord, forgive me and bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not fall to any after me. Verily, You are the Bestower.' (Sad 38:35). So he was driven away in humiliation.' Then he said: 'Whoever says when evening comes: "A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq" (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), then nothing will harm him until morning.' It was narrated that he said: 'When he stops somewhere during his journey, he should say: 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.' Nothing will harm him until he moves from that place.' (Sahih Muslim 2708)
