Duas for overcoming sadness and depression
O Ever-Living, O Self-Subsisting, by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify for me all of my affairs and do not entrust me to myself for even the blink of an eye.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your judgment over me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or taught to anyone in Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the absolute knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, that You have taught to any one of Your creation, or have revealed in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the delight of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my anxieties.
O Allah, I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what You have made it inclined towards, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what You have made it inclined towards.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the heavy burden of debt and from being overcome by men.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your judgment on me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any one of Your creation, or which You have kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my worries.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree concerning me is ever effective. Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my worries.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, and from the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any one of Your creation, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my sadness, and a reliever of my anxiety.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear You, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not heard. And I seek refuge in You from these four.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your Favors, and from the suddenness of Your Punishment, and from the evil of Your Decree, and from the worst of Your Enemies (or from all Your Wrath).
