Duas for overcoming sadness and depression
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear You, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not heard. And I seek refuge in You from these four.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your Favors, and from the suddenness of Your Punishment, and from the evil of Your Decree, and from the worst of Your Enemies (or from all Your Wrath).
O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, by Your mercy I seek relief. Rectify for me all of my affairs and do not entrust me to my own self for even the blink of an eye.
O Allah, Your servant, son of Your female slave, is in need of Your mercy. You are not in need of his punishment. If he was good, then increase his good deeds, and if he was bad, then overlook his misdeeds.
O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to shun evil deeds, and to love the poor. And when You intend to test people with a trial, take me to Yourself without causing me to fall into it. I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which draw me closer to Your love.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, and I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and from being overcome by men.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female-servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever-executed, and Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, that You have taught to any of Your creation, that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my worries.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree over me is inevitable. Your judgment over me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or taught to any one of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.
O Allah, grant my soul its piety, and purify it, for You are the best of those who purify it. You are its Guardian and its Refuge. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humbled, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your judgment on me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to one of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept for Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which is with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my sadness and a reliever of my anxiety.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the demise of Your favors, the turning of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure.
O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which encompasses all things, to have mercy on these animals and all Your creation, and to alleviate their suffering, and to grant them good in this world and the Hereafter.
