Duas for overcoming sadness and depression
O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all they cover, Lord of the seven earths and all they hold, Lord of the devils and all they lead astray, Lord of the wind and all it drives, I ask You for the good of this village and the good of its people and the good of all that is within it. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, and the evil of its people, and the evil of all that is within it.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your judgement upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, by which You have taught one of Your creation, or which You have revealed in Your Book, or which You have kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur'an the delight of my heart, the light of my breast, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my anxiety.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, and I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and oppressed by men.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is necessary. Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or that You have taught to anyone from Your creation, or that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have retained in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and oppressed by men.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from grief and sadness. I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and from the overpowering of men.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female-servant. My forehead is in Your hand (my fate is controlled by You). Your judgment upon me is destined to befall. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the eternal knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.
O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, our Lord and the Lord of all things, the Cleaver of the grain and the date-stone, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. I seek refuge in You from the evil of every moving creature, the forelock of which You seize. O Allah, You are the First, so there is nothing before You; You are the Last, so there is nothing after You; You are the Outwardly Apparent, so there is nothing above You; You are the Inwardly Hidden, so there is nothing nearer than You. Grant us relief from our debt and enrich us from poverty.
O Allah, I hope for Your mercy, so do not entrust me to my own self for even the blink of an eye, and set right all my affairs. There is no god but You.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed, and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or taught to anyone of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or You kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress.
O Allah, I am Your slave, the son of Your male slave, the son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to one of Your creation, or preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qurโan the spring of my heart, the light of my breast, the remover of my sorrow and the dispeller of my anxiety.
