Duas for overcoming sadness and depression
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, from the burden of debt and from being overcome by men.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your judgment over me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any one of Your creation, or have preserved in Your knowledge of the unseen. I ask that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is effective. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone from Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.
