Duas for various evening activities and settling down
O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, the One who causes the grain and the date-stone to split and sprout, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an. I seek refuge in You from the evil of every creature You are seizing by its forelock. O Allah, You are the First, so there is nothing before You; You are the Last, so there is nothing after You; You are the Evident, so there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden, so there is nothing nearer than You. Discharge our debt and relieve us from poverty.
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding โ Those who remember Allah while standing and sitting and lying on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], 'Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You! Then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and from the subjugation of men.
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
In the name of Allah. I seek refuge by the Most Generous Face of Allah from being overtaken by misery, or by something worse. In the name of Allah, and by Allah. Whatever Allah wills, there is no power except with Allah. I have placed my trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient for me. I have reached the morning upon the primordial nature of Islam, the word of sincerity, and the religion of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the creed of our father Ibrahim, who was inclined towards truth and was a Muslim. And I am not of those who associate partners with Allah.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your favors, and the change of Your protection, and the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure.
In the name of Allah, and by the blessings of Allah. O Allah, make it a lasting blessing, and a continuous bond of brotherhood/sisterhood, and unite our affairs in obedience to You, and set our hearts right, and bring us together (in affection).
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and deeds that are accepted.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, from cowardice and old age, and from stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death.
In the name of Allah, I have laid down my side. O Allah, forgive my sins, purify my heart, make my affair easy for me, and protect me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your servants.
O Allah, make light within my heart, and light in my sight, and light in my hearing, and light on my right, and light on my left, and light above me, and light beneath me, and light before me, and light behind me; and grant me light, and make my light great, and make me light.
In Your name, my Lord, I have laid my side down, and in Your name I raise it. If You take my soul, then have mercy upon it. And if You keep it (for the duration of the night), then protect it with what You protect Your righteous servants.
