اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This beautiful dua is ideally recited after Fajr (morning prayer), but its essence of seeking good in this life and the hereafter makes it incredibly fitting as the day winds down. As you finish your last tasks, perhaps after Maghrib or Isha prayer, or even just before settling down to sleep, take a moment to reflect on your day and make this supplication.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a present heart. Imagine each element of the dua: the quest for knowledge that truly benefits, the earnest desire for lawful and wholesome sustenance, and the sincere hope that your efforts are recognized and accepted by Allah. Raising your hands gently can enhance the feeling of supplication, though it's not a strict requirement for this specific dua. Focus on the meaning, letting it wash over you as you transition from the day's engagement to the peace of rest.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua encapsulates the core elements of a balanced life pleasing to Allah. Seeking 'beneficial knowledge' ( 'ilman nafi'an) ensures our actions are guided by sound understanding, preventing us from straying. 'Pure provisions' (rizqan tayyiban) reminds us to be mindful of how we earn and spend, seeking what is lawful and good. Finally, asking for 'accepted deeds' ( 'amalan mutaqabbalan) is the ultimate aspiration – knowing our efforts in worship, work, and life are pleasing to our Creator. While the primary context for this dua is after Fajr, reflecting on these three pillars as the day closes brings a sense of closure and spiritual preparedness for rest.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When the sun has set, do not seek your enemies from among the jinn and mankind until the night has passed, and when the night has passed, seek them. For Allah sends the night down from the heavens... then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When you pray the morning prayer (Fajr), say: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and deeds that are accepted.)'
