O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, the One who causes the grain and the date-stone to split and sprout, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an. I seek refuge in You from the evil of every creature You are seizing by its forelock. O Allah, You are the First, so there is nothing before You; You are the Last, so there is nothing after You; You are the Evident, so there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden, so there is nothing nearer than You. Discharge our debt and relieve us from poverty.

When to Read
This powerful dua is ideal to recite in the evening, just before going to sleep. It’s specifically taught for seeking protection and fulfilling needs, which is especially relevant when facing the quiet hours of the night where distractions, whispers of shaytan, or anxieties can surface. Reciting it as part of your nightly routine can be a profound way to seek Allah's shield as you rest.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, envisioning Allah's absolute power and protection. It's best to recite it after your obligatory prayers and your regular evening supplications, turning your heart and mind fully to Allah. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, acknowledging His dominion over all creation and seeking His refuge from all harm. Raising your hands slightly while reciting can also enhance the feeling of supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication encapsulates comprehensive seeking of refuge and provision from Allah. By invoking Allah as the Lord of all creation, the opener of seeds, and the revealer of scriptures, we acknowledge His sovereignty. Seeking refuge from the evil of 'every creature' directly addresses potential nighttime disturbances, be they physical or spiritual (like whispers from shaytan). The latter part of the dua, affirming Allah's unique attributes of being the First, Last, Evident, and Hidden, solidifies our reliance on Him alone. Finally, asking Him to discharge debt and relieve poverty highlights the holistic nature of this dua, seeking both spiritual and material well-being, vital for a peaceful and secure night.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate: 'O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, the One who causes the grain and the date-stone to split and sprout, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an. I seek refuge in You from the evil of every creature You are seizing by its forelock. O Allah, You are the First, so there is nothing before You; You are the Last, so there is nothing after You; You are the Evident, so there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden, so there is nothing nearer than You. Discharge our debt and relieve us from poverty.' And the narrator (Abu Sa'id) narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ) that he said: 'It is from the supplications of the distressed person: O Allah, our Lord and Lord of all things, I witness that you are Allah, the One whom there is no god but You, the One whom there is no partner, the One whom there is no partner, the One whom there is no partner,' and he mentioned the narration of Abu Huraira till the end. Then he said: 'And relieve us from poverty.' And (he said): 'And do not make us dependent on anyone other than You.'
