Duas for overcoming sadness and depression
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is effective. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself by, or revealed to one of Your creations, or sent down in Your Book, or kept in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a remover of my sadness and a disperser of my worries.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept exclusively unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is effective, and Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or taught to any one of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the delight of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.
O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my flaws and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from my front and from behind me, from my left and from my right, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your Magnificence lest I be consumed from beneath me.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men.
