Dua for Healing from Emotional Wounds

Sadness
Sahih HadithMusnad Ahmad null

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is effective. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself by, or revealed to one of Your creations, or sent down in Your Book, or kept in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a remover of my sadness and a disperser of my worries.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn amatika, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabiika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no one who is afflicted with distress or grief, and says: (Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn amatika, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabiika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.) – except that Allah will remove his distress and grief, and replace it with what is better.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we learn this?' He said: 'Yes, indeed everyone who hears it should learn it.' — Musnad Ahmad 1/391, 452; Al-Hakim 1/549. Sahih.
