Duas for overcoming sadness and depression
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, that You have taught to anyone in Your creation, that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have kept hidden in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my worries.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and by the oppression of men.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your justice over me is assured.
