"O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your Hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your judgement upon me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or taught to any of Your servants, or sent down in Your Book, or kept hidden in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries."

Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "No person suffered any anxiety or grief, and then said: Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatika, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya h ukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw 'istatharta bihi fi 'ilm-il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi. - But Allah would take away his anxiety and grief, and substitute (for it) in its stead and for it satisfaction (contentment)."
