O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, and I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and oppressed by men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-hammi wal-hazan, wa a'udhu bika min al-'ajzi wal-kasal, wa a'udhu bika min al-jubni wal-bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ own supplications for seeking Allah's protection from afflictions that burden the heart and spirit. By reciting it, we are asking Allah for refuge from: * **Worry and Grief (Al-Hammi wal-Hazan):** This covers all forms of mental anguish and sorrow, acknowledging that true relief comes only from Allah. * **Incapacity and Laziness (Al-'Ajzi wal-Kasal):** Seeking Allah's help to overcome feelings of helplessness and lethargy, which can prevent us from achieving our goals and seeking righteous company. * **Cowardice and Stinginess (Al-Jubni wal-Bukhl):** These traits can isolate us and hinder our ability to connect with others positively. Seeking refuge here is asking for strength of character. * **Debt and Oppression (Ghalabatid-Dayni wa Qahrir-Rijal):** These worldly burdens can cause immense stress and sadness. This plea seeks Allah's intervention to protect us from financial hardship and unfair treatment by others. Ultimately, seeking refuge in these specific areas helps us develop the inner strength and resilience needed to navigate life's challenges and to be open to and appreciative of righteous companionship.
Source & Authentication
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I used to serve the Prophet ﷺ, and he stayed with us for a long time. I never heard him say to his companions: 'O people, give me something.' Except for when he was in a battle, and if he happened to speak to his companions, he would say: 'O people, give me something.' And he would seek refuge in Allah from the evil of this world and the evil of the Hereafter. He would say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, and I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and oppressed by men.'
