Duas during times of difficulty and hardship
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from being demolished, I seek refuge in You from falling from a height, I seek refuge in You from drowning, burning, and old age [frailty], and I seek refuge in You from being snatched by Satan at the time of death, and I seek refuge in You from dying while retreating [from battle], and I seek refuge in You from dying from a venomous bite.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, and the turning of Your protection, and the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure. And I seek refuge in You from the trial of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of wealth, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal. O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail. And purify my heart from sins as a white garment is purified from filth. And keep me far from my sins as You have kept the East and the West far apart. And I seek refuge in You from a punishment that is not repelled, and from the evil of a companion and a child.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure.
In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can cause harm on earth or in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree is being executed upon me. Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or that You have kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the Unseen, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the remover of my grief, and the banisher of my worries.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.
There is no god but You; glorified are You! Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.
O Allah, I ask You by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation. Keep me alive as long as You know that life is better for me, and cause me to die when You know that death is better for me. I ask You for Your fear in secret and in public. I ask You for the word of truth in times of contentment and anger. I ask You for moderation in poverty and wealth. I ask You for everlasting bliss, and for the coolness of my eyes that never ceases. I ask You for contentment after [Your] decree, and for a pleasant life after death. I ask You for the sweetness of looking at Your Face, and the longing to meet You. I seek refuge in You from harmful distress and misleading deviation. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith, and make us guides who are guided, and do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve. And forgive us, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever established. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the remover of my worries.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any one of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which is with You, to make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a remover of my sadness, and a banisher of my anxiety.
O Allah, I seek refuge with You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from stinginess and cowardice, and from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone among Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept exclusively unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my grief, and a remover of my anxiety.
