O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone among Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept exclusively unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my grief, and a remover of my anxiety.
Allahumma inni 'abduk, ibnu 'abdik, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukkumuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaibi 'indak, an taj'al al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jalaa'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: ‘No person suffers any affliction, grief or distress, but that Allah will remove his sins for him…’ (then he mentioned the hadith which includes the following supplication): Allahumma inni 'abduk, ibnu 'abdik, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadik, madin fiyya hukkumuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaibi 'indak, an taj'al al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jalaa'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi. ‘I ask you by the questions which You have asked thereof, and by every such question that is for You alone, and not for anyone else. And I ask You not to make anyone sharer with You in Your affair, and all Your affairs perish. I ask You to grant me the good of all that which You will grant to the first and the last of mankind, and to grant me safety in all affairs, and to make me content with the little [provisions], and not to make me reliant on anyone else.'
