O Allah, grant my soul its piety, and purify it, for You are the best of those who purify it. You are its Guardian and its Refuge. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humbled, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.

By seeking refuge in Allah from useless knowledge, a hardened heart, an insatiable soul, and unanswered prayers, you are essentially asking for the tools to combat envy and its associated sadness. Envy often stems from a lack of contentment, a feeling of inadequacy, and perhaps a misguided perspective on knowledge and one's own state. This dua addresses all these aspects, helping you to find peace within yourself and appreciate Allah's decree.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to teach us the following words in the same way as he used to teach us the Qur'an: 'Allahumma ati nafsi taqwaha, wa zakkiha anta khayru man zakkaha, anta waliyyuha wa mawaha.
