Duas to recite after meals
O Allah, feed the one who fed me and give drink to the one who gave me drink.
All praise is due to Allah, [praise] abundant, pure, and blessed, and not to be superseded or bid farewell to, nor is one independent of Him, our Lord.
All praise is due to Allah, Who sufficed me and gave me drink, Who sheltered me, Who fed me and gave me drink, Who made me enjoy that which He provided. For how many is there whom you cannot find provision for?
The Prophet, peace be upon him, when he ate, would lick his three fingers. He said: 'If one of you drops a morsel, he should pick it up, wipe off any dirt from it, and then eat it, and not leave it for the Satan. He also commanded that their pots be scraped, so that they might be blessed. He said: 'When one of you finishes his food and does not know [if there is anything left], he should take off his ring and wipe his vessel with it, for it brings barakah (blessing) upon it.'
Praise be to Allah, much praise, good and blessed praise. We are not self-sufficient, nor is it to be bid farewell, nor do we need to dispense with it, O our Lord.
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
All praise is to Allah, praise that is abundant, good, and blessed. It is not sufficient, nor is it ever abandoned, nor is it ever dispensed with, our Lord.
May the virtuous eat your food, may the angels pray for you, and may the fasting break their fast with you.
