اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This dua is recited during times of drought or when rain is needed. It is often said by the Imam during the Eid prayer when performing the Salat al-Istisqa (Prayer for Rain), and individuals can recite it frequently during such times, particularly after obligatory prayers or during supplication times.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and a hopeful heart, raising your hands as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did when making dua. Understand that rain is a mercy from Allah, and its timing and nature are part of His divine plan. Reflect on how weather patterns, including rain, are signs of Allah's power and wisdom, as mentioned in the Quran. Turn to Allah with humility and a sincere desire for His mercy.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain is a means of survival for all living creatures and a blessing from Allah. The Quran mentions the importance of rain as a sign of Allah's mercy and power (e.g., Ar-Rum 30:48). The Prophet's ﷺ consistent supplication for rain during droughts highlights its significance for the community and the importance of turning to Allah in times of need. Understanding the rain as a sign encourages us to reflect on Allah's greatness and our dependence on Him.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) performed the Istisqa prayer and they prayed two rak'ahs. He gave a Khutbah, and before he started the Khutbah, he supplicated to Allah and raised his hands, and the people raised their hands with him. Then he prayed two rak'ahs, facing the Qiblah, and he turned his cloak, turning the right side to the left and the left side to the right. Then he supplicated: 'O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.' They said: 'And the people said: O Allah, grant us rain.'
