Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when he saw rain clouds or wind, used to get up and sit with his Companions. He would say: 'O Allah, make it a beneficial rain.' And 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: 'I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he saw rain clouds coming, except that he would say: 'O Allah, beneficial rain.' He also narrated on the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man entered the mosque on Friday and the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the Khutbah, whereupon he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the cattle are perishing and the roads are cut off, so pray to Allah to give us rain.' So the Prophet ﷺ raised his hands and said: 'O Allah, give us rain. O Allah, give us rain. O Allah, give us rain.' Anas said: 'There was no cloud between us and the sky, and there was no protective awning for us. Then he said: 'There will be no more evil than this,' and the cloud gathered and it rained.' So they could not reach their homes. He laughed until his molar teeth appeared. Then he said: 'O Allah, rain around us and not on us.' So the cloud dispersed over the area around them and it did not rain on them.'
