اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثًا مُغِيثًا مَرِيحًا نَافِعًا غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ عَاجِلاً غَيْرَ آجِلٍ اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثَكَ الْهَنَاءَ الْغَدَقَ الْمُسْتَوِيَ نَبَاتًا وَلَا تَجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الْقَانِطِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ بِالْعِبَادِ وَالْبِلَادِ مِنَ الْجَهْدِ وَالْجُوعِ وَالضَّنْكِ مَا لَا نَشْكُو إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ فَارْحَمْنَا وَانْشُرْ عَلَيْنَا رَحْمَتَكَ وَأَحْيِ بِهَا بَلَدَنَا الْمَيِّتَ اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْ أُسَارَانَا وَأَطْعِمْ جَائِعَنَا وَاكْسُ عُرْيَانَنَا وَأَطْفِئْ نَارَ حَرْبِنَا
O Allah, grant us rain that brings relief, is pleasant, beneficial, not harmful, immediate, and not delayed. O Allah, grant us Your abundant, widespread, and level-giving rain that makes plants grow, and do not make us among the despairing. O Allah, Your servants and Your lands are experiencing hardship, hunger, and distress that we complain of to no one but You. O Allah, have mercy upon us and spread Your mercy over us, and revive our dead land with it. O Allah, have mercy on our prisoners, feed our hungry, clothe our naked, and extinguish the fire of our war.
Allahumma s-qinā ghaythan mughīthan marīḥan nāfiʿan ghayra ḍārrin ʿājilan ghayra ājilin. Allahumma s-qinā ghaythaka l-hanāʾa l-ghadaqa l-mustawiya nabātan wa lā tajʿal-nā mina l-qāniṭīn. Allahumma inna bi-l-ʿibādi wa-l-bilādi mina l-jahdi wa-l-jūʿi wa-ḍ-ḍanki mā lā nashkū illā ilayka. Allahumma fa-rḥamnā wa-nshur ʿalaynā raḥmataka wa-ḥyi bihā baladanā l-mayyit. Allahumma-rḥam usārānā wa-aṭʿim jāʾiʿanā wa-ksu ʿuryānanā wa-ṭfiʾ nāra ḥarbinā.
When to Read
This comprehensive supplication is best recited during a drought when seeking Allah's mercy for rain. It is particularly poignant to include the plea for prisoners, as their suffering is often exacerbated during times of scarcity and hardship. It can be recited individually or collectively by a community facing such a crisis.
How to Read
Raise your hands in supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible, with sincerity and conviction in Allah's power to respond. It is recommended to begin with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, followed by this dua. Repeating the dua multiple times can also be a practice. Maintaining humility and acknowledging our dependence on Allah are key etiquettes.

This dua seeks Allah's mercy in multiple crucial areas: immediate relief from drought, sustenance for the land and its inhabitants, and compassion for the vulnerable, including prisoners. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that 'Indeed, Allah is pleased with a servant who, when He asks Him, supplicates Him, and seeks His forgiveness, is pleased with him.' (Sahih Muslim 2630). Supplicating for others, like prisoners, is also a powerful act that can bring about blessings for the one who supplicates, as the Prophet ﷺ said, 'The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is readily answered. An angel is stationed by his head, and every time he supplicates for his brother, the angel says: Ameen, and it is for you that you wish for the same.' (Sahih Muslim 2157).
