اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain; O Allah, grant us rain; O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This supplication is particularly potent when the land is parched, crops are withering, and people and animals are suffering from drought. It should be recited with sincerity and a sense of urgency, ideally in congregation led by the Imam, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during times of need.
How to Read
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when seeking rain, would raise his hands and turn his cloak inside out. This act symbolized a turning away from the old state and a turning towards seeking Allah's mercy. Recite this with your hands raised, seeking Allah's abundant mercy, and if possible, follow the Sunnah by turning your cloak inside out. Ensure your heart is full of hope and conviction in Allah's ability to answer.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain through dua is a profound act of reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) and an acknowledgment of His absolute power over all creation. Rain is a blessing (Rizq) from Allah, vital for life on Earth. The Quran states, 'And it is He who sends the winds as good news before His mercy, and We send down from the heavens pure water - so that We may give life to a dead land and provide it as water for what We have created of livestock and many people.' (Al-Furqan 25:48-49). By asking for rain, we are asking for the revival of our environment, sustenance for all living beings, and a sign of Allah's grace.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'A man entered the Masjid on Friday while the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah, and he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has been destroyed and the paths are cut off from us. Pray to Allah to send us rain.' So, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) raised his hands and said: 'O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 1014)
