Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The people complained to Allah's Messenger ﷺ about the drought, the lack of rain, and the hardship they faced. So, he ﷺ stood up and delivered a sermon, and supplicated to Allah for rain. Then, he ﷺ descended and prayed two rak'ahs of prayer. He invoked Allah for rain and raised his hands, and the clouds started gathering. Then, he ﷺ prayed for rain and the rain started pouring down heavily. And it rained till the next Friday. Then, another Friday came and the Prophet ﷺ prayed two rak'ahs and invoked Allah for stopping the rain. He said: 'O Allah, around us and not upon us.' So the clouds dispersed from over Medina.
