اللَّهُمَّ أغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This dua is recited during a drought when seeking Allah's mercy for rain. It's also a beautiful intention to make whenever rain begins, asking Allah to bless this natural phenomenon and guide us to utilize the time for His worship.
How to Read
Raise your hands in supplication, mimicking the Prophet's ﷺ manner when asking for rain. You can say it with conviction, knowing that Allah listens to every sincere plea. Even after the rain starts, reflecting on Allah's mercy and using the calm, reflective atmosphere for increased prayer, dhikr, and reading the Quran is a way to embody the spirit of this dua.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain through dua is a Sunnah practice that highlights our complete dependence on Allah. It reminds us that even essential elements like water are a gift from Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this specific supplication during times of need, showing us the direct and humble way to ask our Creator. Furthermore, the rain itself is a mercy from Allah, as He states: 'And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby growth of all kinds...' (Al-An'am 6:99). Making the most of this mercy by turning to worship is a way to show gratitude and deepen our connection with Allah.
