Rain

اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا

O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.

Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna

When to Read

This dua is specifically recited when the land is dry and there is a need for rain, particularly when the lack of rain is hindering the progress and success of community projects like farming, construction, or any initiative that relies on favorable weather conditions. It's also appropriate during times of drought and widespread need.

How to Read

This supplication is made with earnestness and sincerity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would raise his hands during the istisqa (prayer for rain) dua, turning his cloak as a sign of humility and seeking Allah's mercy. It's recommended to face the Qiblah (direction of prayer) and to make this dua collectively with the community, emphasizing our dependence on Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking rain through dua is an act of seeking Allah's mercy and acknowledging our complete reliance on Him for sustenance and well-being. The success of any project is ultimately in Allah's hands, and His blessings are essential for its completion. This dua also fosters a sense of community and shared reliance on the Creator during times of need.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) supplicated for rain, and he did not raise his hands except his armpits, and he did not raise them high. He supplicated for rain, saying: 'Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna.' (O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.) In another narration, he turned his face towards the sky and turned his cloak inside out.
