اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This powerful supplication is traditionally recited during times of drought and is particularly relevant when seeking Allah's favor for a significant life event like a wedding, especially if the weather is a concern. While this specific phrasing is for general rain-seeking, the principle of asking Allah for favorable conditions applies to any situation. It's a way to acknowledge our complete reliance on Him for all blessings, including a beautiful and blessed wedding day.
How to Read
This dua is typically raised with hands, a sign of earnest supplication. It's a practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during periods of drought, indicating the urgency and sincerity with which we should ask. Recite it with a heartfelt intention, focusing on the blessings you hope Allah will bestow upon your union and the day itself.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain is a direct acknowledgment of Allah's power over the elements and His role as Ar-Razzaq (The Provider). When we ask for rain, we are asking for life, sustenance, and the flourishing of the earth. For a wedding, this translates to asking for Allah's barakah (blessing) to encompass the ceremony and the couple's future. The Prophet's ﷺ repeated plea of 'Allahumma aghithna' (O Allah, grant us rain) highlights the importance of persistent and sincere dua, showing that our reliance on Allah is constant, whether for our daily needs or for significant life events.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A man entered the Masjid on Friday and the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah, and he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has been destroyed and the roads are cut off, so ask Allah to give us rain.' So the Prophet (ﷺ) raised his hands and said: 'O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.'" Sahih al-Bukhari 1011
