Rain
Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This powerful dua is excellent to recite not only during rainy seasons but at any time you feel overwhelmed by difficult decisions or uncertainty. The rain itself can be a beautiful reminder of Allah's mercy and power, prompting us to turn to Him for guidance. When the skies open up and the rain falls, especially when it brings with it challenges like floods or disrupted life, it's a perfect moment to seek Allah's wisdom. You can make this dua as the rain begins, during its downpour, or even when contemplating a major life choice that feels as uncertain as the weather.

How to Read

This dua is comprehensive and can be recited at any time. It's best to recite it with sincerity and conviction, reflecting on each part of the request. Begin by acknowledging Allah (calling upon 'Allahumma'). Then, present your requests: for knowledge that benefits you and others ('ilman naafi'an'), for provisions that are lawful and good ('rizqan tayyiban'), and for deeds that are accepted by Him ('amalan mutaqabbalan'). Imagine the rain nourishing the earth as you ask Allah to nourish your mind with knowledge, your life with blessings, and your actions with acceptance.

Virtues & Benefits

This hadith, narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), highlights the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ personal practice of making this supplication every morning after sunrise. It covers three of the most essential aspects of a Muslim's life: knowledge that is beneficial and leads to good, provisions that are pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. Seeking these three ensures a well-rounded spiritual and worldly well-being, helping you navigate life's challenges, including those that arise during difficult weather or decision-making times, with clarity and divine assistance.
