اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful (provision) instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This dua is especially relevant for our elders who may be facing financial anxieties, lingering debts, or simply seeking contentment and peace in their later years. It can be recited anytime, but is particularly beneficial when feeling overwhelmed by financial burdens or when seeking Allah's provision and independence.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and deep reflection, focusing on the meaning of seeking sufficiency from Allah alone. It's best recited after obligatory prayers or during times of quiet contemplation. Visualizing Allah's immense grace and provision can enhance its impact.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful supplication for financial well-being and independence from relying on others. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provision, we are seeking protection from unlawful means and a contented heart. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua to Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was in debt, indicating its significance in alleviating financial worries and seeking Allah's ultimate support.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught me these words and promised that if I had the equivalent of a mountain of debt, Allah would help me to pay it. So I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he taught me 'Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone other than You.)
