اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to worship You in the best manner.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika
When to Read
This is a beautiful and comprehensive supplication that can be made at any time, but it's particularly powerful to recite after the obligatory prayers. As we age, our bodies may weaken, making it harder to perform our devotions. Making this dua regularly can help us seek Allah's assistance to maintain our connection with Him through remembrance, gratitude, and excellent worship, regardless of our physical condition.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely, with conviction in your heart that Allah is the only one who can grant you the strength and ability to worship Him properly. Raise your hands (as is the Sunnah for supplication) and focus on the meaning of the words, asking Allah for His help in remembering Him, being thankful for His blessings, and performing our acts of worship with devotion and excellence. It's best recited after finishing the salam of your prayer, but can also be made at any other appropriate time.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates the essence of a believer's life: remembrance of Allah (dhikr), gratitude for His blessings (shukr), and the commitment to worship Him perfectly (husni 'ibadah). By asking for Allah's help in these three fundamental aspects, we are essentially asking for the ability to live a life pleasing to Him. As we get older, maintaining these pillars of faith can become more challenging due to physical limitations or forgetfulness. This supplication is a proactive way to ensure that our worship remains strong and sincere, even when our bodies are not as capable. It is a profound request for divine support to keep our spiritual connection vibrant throughout our lives.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught this dua to Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) when he instructed him, 'O Mu'adh, by Allah, I love you and will tell you something that I say after every prayer: Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika.' (O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to worship You in the best manner). — Sunan Abi Dawud 1522 (Hasan Li Ghairihi)
