Virtues & Benefits
This is a remarkably concise yet comprehensive dua that encompasses the core needs of a believer throughout their life, and especially in old age. It is narrated that Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: 'The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to seek refuge in Allah and supplicate with these words: 'Allahumma-ghfirli, wa-rhamni, wa-hdini, wa 'afini, wa-rqurni' (O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me well-being, and provide for me)'. (Sahih Muslim 2615). By asking for forgiveness and mercy, we are hoping for Allah's pleasure and acceptance. Guidance and well-being (in body and soul) are essential for navigating life's challenges peacefully. Provision ensures that our needs are met, allowing for more focus on worship and remembrance. For the elderly, this dua can bring immense peace, helping them to conclude their life's journey with a sense of security and reliance on Allah.

O Allah, forgive me what I have sent forth and what I have postponed, what I have concealed and what I have done openly, what I have exceeded in, and what You know better of me. You are the One Who brings forth and the One Who delays. There is no god but You.)
