O Allah, forgive the Muslim men and women, and the believing men and women. Rectify the relations between them, and unite their hearts. Abandon those who abandon them, and grant them victory over those who overcome them. Honor them with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful. And forgive our parents, our grandparents, our ancestors, our relatives, and every Muslim man and woman, and every widow and orphan, and everyone who has a right over us, with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
When to Read
This dua is profoundly relevant for anyone seeking divine assistance for elderly widows and widowers, especially during times of loneliness, hardship, or when witnessing their struggles. It's a beautiful supplication to make during personal prayers (salah), after prayers, or at any time one feels moved to ask Allah for their well-being. It's particularly fitting to recite during the last third of the night or on Fridays.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt plea to Allah. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, visualizing the elderly individuals you are praying for. Raise your hands as you would during other supplications. It is recommended to begin with praises of Allah and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ, then make this specific dua, and conclude by asking for your own needs or general blessings.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua seeks Allah's forgiveness, reconciliation, and support for the entire Ummah, with a special emphasis on the vulnerable. By asking for the rectification of relationships and the unity of hearts, it addresses the social and emotional needs of elderly individuals who may feel isolated. Praying for their victory and honor invokes Allah's protection and care. Specifically mentioning widows and orphans highlights the importance of compassion for these groups in Islam, as emphasized in numerous hadith, such as the one where the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ said: 'The one who looks after and provides for a widow or a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah's cause, or like one who keeps fasts all day and prays all night.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5374). This dua aims to bring them solace, companionship, and the support they need to live with dignity.
