A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This powerful dua should be recited every morning after Fajr prayer. It's a beautiful way to begin your day, entrusting yourself and your well-being to Allah's protection. You can also recite it before sleeping at night.
How to Read
Recite it three times in the morning. It's recommended to raise your hands slightly while reciting, as you would when making other supplications. The sincerity in your heart and your firm belief in Allah's power are key.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua offers comprehensive protection from all kinds of created evils. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this specific supplication, and it's particularly effective for warding off harm from creatures like scorpions and ants, whose stings can cause significant pain and distress. By seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, we acknowledge His ultimate power and authority over all creation, including venomous creatures. This practice reflects a deep reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) and is a beautiful example of the Sunnah for seeking safety.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was stung by a scorpion last night.' He said: 'If you had said, when evening came: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق (A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq) – 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created,' – it would not have harmed you.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). The narrator also mentions that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach them these words to recite in the morning and in the evening.
