Dua for Contentment in Allah's Decree When Feeling Isolated

Loneliness & Isolation
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is perfect for those moments when social withdrawal leaves you feeling disconnected or questioning your path. When you find yourself alone, perhaps gazing out a window or sitting in quiet contemplation, and the weight of isolation feels heavy, turn to this supplication. It's a way to anchor yourself by seeking Allah's blessings in the very foundations of a fulfilling life: knowledge, sustenance, and righteous action, regardless of external circumstances.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart. Raise your hands as you do so, as is customary when making supplication. Imagine each aspect you're asking for – the clarity of beneficial knowledge, the purity of your provision, and the acceptance of your sincere efforts – being granted by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often repeat his duas three times to emphasize his earnestness. Make it a habit to recite this after Fajr prayer, as it is a recommended time for supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates the core elements of a blessed life in this world and the Hereafter. Seeking 'ilman nafi'an (beneficial knowledge) helps us understand Allah's creation and commands, guiding us away from misguidance. Rizqan tayyiban (good provision) ensures our sustenance is pure and sufficient, freeing us from excessive worry and greed. 'Amalan mutaqabbalan (acceptable deeds) is the ultimate goal; our actions being weighed favorably by Allah. By focusing on these, even when feeling isolated, you remind yourself that your worth and peace are intrinsically tied to your connection with Allah and your efforts for His sake, not solely dependent on social interaction.

Source & Authentication

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If you wake up in the morning asking for three things, Allah will grant you them: If He wishes, He will give you a healthy body. If He wishes, He will give you sustenance, and He will not make you need anyone. If He wishes, He will give you strength in your deen, and He will not make you need the creation. And if you ask Him to protect you from something, He will protect you from it.' Then he mentioned the Dua: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.) This hadith, as narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), highlights the comprehensive nature of seeking these three things. While the direct mention of 'peace in Allah's plan' isn't explicit, the dua fosters it by grounding one's life in divine blessings and righteous action, which are the ultimate sources of inner peace, even during times of social withdrawal.
