Dua for Overcoming Social Anxiety and Connecting with Others

Loneliness & Isolation
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2714

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the demolition of Your blessings, and from the transformation of Your well-being, and from the suddenness of Your punishment, and from all of Your displeasure. And I seek refuge in You from the distress of tribulation, and the attainment of misery, and the evil of fate, and the rejoicing of enemies.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuj'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik, wa a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala', wa darakish-shaqa'i, wa su'il-qada'i, wa shamatatil-a'da'.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses seeking refuge from the 'distress of tribulation' (jahdil-bala') and 'the attainment of misery' (darakish-shaqa'), which can encompass the suffering caused by social anxiety and the resulting isolation. By seeking Allah's protection, we ask Him to safeguard our mental and emotional well-being, enabling us to overcome debilitating fears. It also includes seeking refuge from the 'evil of fate' and 'the rejoicing of enemies', which can include those who might look down on or misunderstand those struggling with social difficulties. Through this supplication, we ask Allah to grant us contentment, ease, and the ability to connect with His creation in a positive and healthy manner, reflecting His blessings upon us.
