A Sincere Plea: Dua for Rediscovering Your Connection with Allah

Loneliness & Isolation
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3522

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.

Ya muqallib al-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik

When to Read

This dua is a powerful recourse whenever you feel a sense of distance from Allah. It's particularly beneficial during times of spiritual dryness, when worldly distractions feel overwhelming, or when you simply yearn for that closeness you once felt. Recite it after Salah, during the quiet moments of the night, or anytime you find your heart wandering.

How to Read

Recite this dua with a sincere heart and a present mind. Visualize Allah's power to turn hearts and His mercy. Focus on the meaning of the words, asking for steadfastness and a strengthened connection to faith. It's best to raise your hands slightly in supplication, especially during the latter part of the night or after obligatory prayers. Make it a habit, and let it become a natural expression of your reliance on Him.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses the core of emotional distance – the state of the heart. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who had the closest connection to Allah, would still frequently make this supplication. This teaches us that even the best of us need to actively seek Allah's help in maintaining our faith. It reminds us that our connection is a gift that requires constant nurturing and reliance on the One who controls our hearts. By asking for steadfastness, we are seeking Allah's help to remain on the right path and to feel His presence more profoundly.

Source & Authentication

Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to invoke frequently, saying: 'O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what makes you invoke so frequently: 'O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' He said: 'O Aishah, no son of Adam is safe from it being changed. It is as if he was created in the beginning of creation, and then his heart is changed.'" (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3522, graded Hasan by the compiler).
