Hajj & Umrah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 5743

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness behind.

Allahumma Rabb an-nas, adh-hib al-ba's, ishfi anta ash-shafi, la shifaa'a illa shifa'uka, shifaa'an la yughadiru saqama.

When to Read

This powerful supplication is particularly relevant during Hajj and Umrah. As you navigate the immense spiritual journey, surrounded by countless people and intense energy, you might feel vulnerable. The crowds and the sheer scale of the pilgrimage can sometimes expose one to envious glances or the subtle effects of the evil eye, even unintentionally. Recite this dua regularly, especially when you feel uneasy, or notice yourself or a companion experiencing unexplained fatigue or discomfort.

How to Read

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to place our hand on the area of pain or discomfort while reciting this dua. He would repeat it three times. When reciting for oneself or others, focus your intention on seeking Allah's protection and complete healing. Breathe deeply and visualize Allah's light enveloping you, shielding you from any harm. Remember that sincere reliance on Allah is key.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua embodies profound Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was afflicted, he would recite this very prayer. It's a direct appeal to the Lord of all creation, acknowledging His supreme power to heal and protect. By reciting this, we affirm that ultimate well-being, protection from all ailments, and defense against any form of harm, including the evil eye and envy, lies solely with Allah. It serves as a spiritual shield, fortifying us against unseen negative influences.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) saying: 'I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous animal and from every evil eye.' Then he added: 'It was said that the Prophet ﷺ used to teach his uncles some words to praise Allah and seek refuge with Him. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge with Allah from the evil eye, and the Muslims used to seek refuge with Allah from the evil eye.' Sahih al-Bukhari 3306 also mentions Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrating that the Prophet ﷺ instructed her to seek refuge with Allah from the evil eye.
