Hajj & Umrah
Hasan HadithAl-Mustadrak 'ala al-Sahihain 1739

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا وَاسِعًا وَشِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and a cure from every disease.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan wasi'an, wa shifaa'an min kulli daa'

When to Read

This beautiful dua is recited when drinking Zamzam water. After completing your Tawaf al-Wada (the Farewell Tawaf), you would typically pray two rak'ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim, and then proceed to drink Zamzam water before your final departure from Makkah. It is a time for heartfelt personal supplication, and this particular dua is reported to have been recited by the esteemed Companion Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he drank Zamzam. Reciting it at this significant moment, as you conclude your pilgrimage and prepare to leave the Sacred City, is a profound way to seek Allah's comprehensive blessings for your life ahead.

How to Read

When you drink Zamzam water, it is recommended to do so while standing, in three sips, saying 'Bismillah' before the first sip and 'Alhamdulillah' after each sip. Drink to your fill, making this dua and any other personal supplications with sincerity and a strong conviction that Allah will respond. After drinking and making your final duas, you should then depart from Makkah without engaging in unnecessary activities, keeping the Kaaba as your last sight.

Virtues & Benefits

Zamzam water itself holds immense blessings; the Prophet ﷺ said: "The best water on the face of the earth is Zamzam water. In it is food for the hungry and a cure for the sick." (Al-Mu'jam Al-Kabir by At-Tabarani). By reciting this dua, you are not only seeking the inherent physical benefits of Zamzam but also profound spiritual and worldly blessings. You ask Allah for beneficial knowledge, which illuminates the path to success in this life and the Hereafter; for abundant and lawful provision, ensuring your sustenance and peace of mind; and for healing from all ailments, encompassing both physical illnesses and spiritual diseases of the heart. Seeking these holistic blessings at the culmination of your pilgrimage is a powerful demonstration of your reliance on Allah's boundless mercy and power, hoping to carry these benefits into your daily life.
