*Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina 'adhaban-nar*

When to Read

This is an incredibly comprehensive dua that can be recited at *any time*, but it holds special significance during Hajj and Umrah. You can make it after your prayers in the Haram, while performing Tawaf, during Sa'i, or even at Arafat. It's a prayer for well-being and success in both stages of your existence, making it a perfect companion for this sacred journey.

How to Read

Raise your hands in supplication, turning your heart towards Allah. Recite it with sincerity and conviction, truly believing in Allah's ability to grant your request. It's often recited after other duas or prayers, but can also stand alone as a powerful supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, found in the Quran (Al-Baqarah 2:201) and widely practiced by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions, encapsulates a complete request for a balanced life. It seeks the best of this world – prosperity, health, good deeds, knowledge, and righteous spouses – without leading to transgression or distraction from Allah. Simultaneously, it asks for the best of the Hereafter – Paradise, Allah's pleasure, and ease in the grave and on the Day of Judgment. It's a profound acknowledgment of our need for Allah's mercy in every aspect of our lives. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself would frequently recite this dua, demonstrating its immense importance.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Anas: The Prophet ﷺ used to say: 'O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Fire.' Anas added: 'And the Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate: "O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Fire; and make us succeed in this world and the next.'" (This is a narration of the same meaning). Then he said: 'And he used to seek refuge from the punishment of the Fire.'
