Hajj & Umrah
Sahih HadithProphets 3370

O Allah, send Your mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your mercy upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim, verily You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious. O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim, verily You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious.

When to Read

While there isn't a specific supplication explicitly titled "for remembering the Prophet's hardships during Hajj and Umrah," reciting Salawat (sending blessings) upon him ﷺ is the most profound way to honor him and connect with his blessed life and sacrifices. During your Hajj or Umrah, as you walk the same blessed paths he ﷺ once trod, performing the rites he taught us, you naturally recall his journey. At sacred sites like the Kaaba, Safa and Marwah, Arafat, and Mina, he ﷺ faced immense challenges in establishing Islam and conveying Allah's message. Engaging in abundant Salawat at these places, with a reflective heart, allows you to immerse yourself in his legacy, fostering a deep appreciation for the immense struggle he ﷺ undertook for the sake of Allah and His Ummah. It's a personal moment of contemplation, turning the physical journey into a spiritual one rooted in gratitude for his sacrifices.

How to Read

Recite the Salatul Ibrahimiyyah with sincerity and presence of heart. As you pronounce each word, let your mind ponder the immense trials and tribulations the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ endured, particularly during his time in Makkah and his arduous journeys for Hajj and Umrah. Reflect on the patience, perseverance, and unwavering faith he ﷺ demonstrated in conveying Allah's message. There's no prescribed number, but making it a frequent invocation, especially throughout your Hajj or Umrah journey, will deepen its impact. Engage in this remembrance not just verbally, but with your heart and mind, allowing it to increase your love for him and strengthen your resolve to follow his Sunnah.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting Salawat on the Prophet ﷺ carries immense rewards from Allah, as He commands us to do so in the Quran (Al-Ahzab 33:56). It is a direct act of worship that earns you ten blessings from Allah for each Salawat (Sahih Muslim 384). More specifically, in the context of remembering his hardships during Hajj and Umrah, abundant Salawat: * **Deepens Your Love for the Prophet ﷺ:** Continuously sending blessings upon him cultivates a profound love for him in your heart, which in turn makes you more eager to follow his Sunnah and appreciate his sacrifices (Sahih al-Bukhari 6137). * **Connects You to His Struggle:** By consciously reciting Salawat while physically present at the places of his struggles and triumphs, you forge a stronger spiritual connection to his life and mission, transforming your pilgrimage into a journey of profound historical and spiritual remembrance. * **Increases Your Gratitude:** Reflecting on the hardships he ﷺ faced to deliver the message of Islam, especially in the very lands where you perform your rites, fills you with gratitude for his sacrifices and for the guidance he brought. * **Elevates Your Status:** The more you remember and honor the Prophet ﷺ through Salawat, the more Allah will honor you, granting you proximity to him on the Day of Judgment (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 484, Hasan). * **Elicits Allah's Blessings:** Sending Salawat brings down Allah's mercy and blessings upon you, purifying your heart and enhancing your pilgrimage experience.

Ka'b ibn Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: "When the verse, 'Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, send blessings upon him and greet him with peace,' (Al-Ahzab 33:56) was revealed, we asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, we know how to greet you (i.e., say As-salamu alaykum), but how do we send blessings upon you?' — Sahih al-Bukhari 3370, Sahih Muslim 406
