Dua for Reciprocal Love and Connection with the Prophet ﷺ in Madinah

Hajj & Umrah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1478

O Allah, make my love for You and for Your Messenger dearer to me than myself, my family, my wealth, and than cool water during thirst. O Allah, make it a longing to meet You, and grant me safety from Your punishment on the day You resurrect Your servants. O Allah, grant me Your love, the love of those whose love will benefit me with You, and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your love. O Allah, whatever You have granted me that I love, make it a strength for me in what You love, and whatever You have withheld from me that I love, make it a means for me to occupy myself with what You love.

Allahumma-j'al hubbi laka wa li Rasulika ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa mali wa minal-ma'il-bariedi 'ala adh-dham'i. Allahumma-j'alhu shawqan ila liqa'ika, wa amminni min 'adhabika yawma tab'athu 'ibadak. Allahumma-rzusqni hubbaka, wa hubba man yanfa'uni hubbuhu 'indaka, wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribuni ila hubbika. Allahumma ma razaqtani mimma uhibbu faj'alhu quwwatan li fima tuhibbu, wa ma zawayta 'anni mimma uhibbu faj'alhu faraghan li fima tuhibbu.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah ibn Hisham: We were with the Prophet ﷺ and he was holding Umar's hand. Umar said: O Messenger of Allah, you are dearer to me than everything except my soul. The Prophet ﷺ said: None of you is a believer until I am dearer to him than his soul. Umar said: By Allah, you are dearer to me than my soul. The Prophet ﷺ said: Now (you have got it right), O Umar. The narration of Abu Mu'awiya is similar. (Sahih Muslim 1478)
