Here I am, O Allah, at Your service. Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily, all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty. You have no partner.
*Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayk la shareeka laka labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la shareeka lak.*
When to Read
This is the core *talbiyah* recited upon entering the state of *ihram* for Hajj or Umrah. It begins the moment you intend to start the rites of pilgrimage, typically after changing into your *ihram* garments and performing two units of prayer (if possible). You continue to recite it frequently, especially when you are on the move, after prayers, and in groups.
How to Read
Recite this with sincerity and a heart full of devotion. Feel the submission and love for Allah as you declare your readiness to serve Him. The *talbiyah* is meant to be said aloud, especially when in a group, fostering a collective sense of devotion. Ensure you understand the meaning of each phrase and let it resonate within you.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting the *talbiyah* is the defining declaration of *ihram*. It signifies your complete surrender to Allah and your separation from worldly concerns. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'There is no Muslim who says: 'Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la shareeka laka Labbayk, innal-hamda wa'n-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la shareeka lak' except that the sound of it from the right and the left, as long as there is land or sea, is [heard by] whatever is to the right and left of him of stones, rocks, trees, and mud.' (Sahih Muslim 1184). Furthermore, it is a reflection of the supplication of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was commanded to call people to Hajj. It’s a powerful reminder of the Day of Judgment when people will be called to account, and it focuses the pilgrim's mind on the immense purpose of their journey.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When the people dismount from their mounts in the valley of Al-'Aqiq, they should say the Talbiyah: 'Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la shareeka laka Labbayk, innal-hamda wa'n-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la shareeka lak.' (Sahih Muslim 1186). Another narration states: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his voice with the Talbiyah when it was after the prayer.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 1548). And when asked what he said during the Hajj? He said: 'He would say the Talbiyah, and he would say it in the following words: 'Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la shareeka laka Labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la shareeka lak.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306).
