The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When you come to a town (or country), you should supplicate: O Allah, I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of its people and its good deeds and seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of its people and the evil of what is in it. And when you leave it, you should say: O Allah, I ask You for its bounty (reward) and its provisions and I seek refuge in You from its evil.' (This particular dua is for entering, and the specific wording for entering is often derived from the general principle of seeking goodness and mercy).
