Friday / Jumuah
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 1177

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَاجْبُرْنِي، وَعَافِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي، وَارْفَعْنِي

O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, set me right, protect me, provide for me, and raise me in status.

Allahumma-ghfir li, war-hamni, wahdini, wajburni, wa 'afini, warzuqni, warfa'ni

When to Read

This dua is particularly potent during the pause between the first and second khutbah on Friday. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that there is a special hour on Friday where supplications are answered. While the exact timing of this hour is debated, many scholars consider the time between the khutbahs to be one of its prime windows. It's a moment when the community is gathered, the reminder of Allah is fresh, and the atmosphere is charged with spiritual significance. Seize this opportunity to turn to your Lord with sincerity and a humble heart.

How to Read

Recite this dua quietly, with focus and sincerity. It's a personal supplication, so speak from your heart. Remember that the essence of dua lies in your connection with Allah. Raise your hands if you feel comfortable and it doesn't disrupt others, as this is a sign of earnest seeking. Ensure you are in a state of Wudu (ablution). The intention behind your dua is key; ask with conviction that Allah has the power to grant your request.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explicitly mentioned the importance of seeking Allah’s forgiveness and blessings during this specific time. This comprehensive dua covers fundamental aspects of a believer's needs: seeking forgiveness, mercy, guidance, well-being, provision, and elevation in status. By reciting it, you are essentially asking Allah to encompass you with His grace in this life and the next. The Prophet's ﷺ own practice of making dua and the emphasis on this specific moment underscores its immense spiritual value. It’s a chance to reset, to seek Allah's favor directly, and to leave the mosque with a renewed sense of purpose and spiritual upliftment.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to supplicate between the two sermons, raising his hands, saying: 'Allahumma-ghfir li, war-hamni, wahdini, wajburni, wa 'afini, warzuqni, warfa'ni' (O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, set me right, protect me, provide for me, and raise me in status.) — Sunan Ibn Majah 1177. While classified as Hasan by some, it highlights the Prophet's ﷺ active supplication during this time.
