O Allah, make her childbirth easy, and make it a blessed hour for Your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Allahumma yassir lahā wilādatahā waj'alhā sā'atan mubārakatan 'alā nabiyyika Muhammadin ṣallā Allāhu 'alayhi wa sallam.
When to Read
This dua can be recited by the expectant mother, her husband, family members, or friends, especially as the time of delivery approaches. Reciting it on a blessed Friday, the best day of the week, amplifies its potential for acceptance, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said regarding Friday: 'There is an hour on Friday when no Muslim is spared by Allah except that it will be granted to him.' (Sahih Muslim 852)
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and complete reliance on Allah. Face the Qiblah if possible, raise your hands (if it's a personal dua), and invoke Allah with certainty that He is capable of making anything easy. Repeating the dua with conviction, especially during the auspicious times on Friday, is recommended. Consider making personal supplications related to the ease of labor and the health of the mother and child.
Virtues & Benefits
Invoking Allah for ease during childbirth acknowledges His ultimate power and mercy. Asking for a 'blessed hour' connects the intention to the sanctity of Friday, a day of great blessings and acceptance of supplications. This dua seeks divine intervention to alleviate the pain and difficulties often associated with labor, and to bring forth the child in a state of well-being. It also reflects the emphasis Islam places on seeking blessings through the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Salawat).
