In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. [1] Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. [2] The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. [3] Master of the Day of Judgment. When to Read

Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha for the deceased is a practice rooted in the general principle of sending blessings and seeking forgiveness for them. While there isn't a specific hadith mandating its recitation on Friday for the deceased, Friday is considered a blessed day. Therefore, reciting Al-Fatiha for them on this day, or any other day, is a virtuous act of remembrance and supplication, hoping to benefit them in their graves.

How to Read

Recite Surah Al-Fatiha with sincerity and devotion, focusing on its meaning and seeking Allah's mercy for the deceased. It is recommended to recite it with proper pronunciation and tajweed. After reciting, one can make a specific dua for the deceased, such as asking Allah to forgive their sins and grant them Jannat al-Firdaws.

Virtues & Benefits

The recitation of the Quran, especially Surah Al-Fatiha, is a profound act of worship. It is known as the 'Mother of the Book' (Umm al-Kitab) and contains the essence of the Quran's message. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ said: 'Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward equal to ten times that letter. I do not say that Alif, Lam, Meem is a letter, but rather Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.' (Tirmidhi 2910, Sahih). When intended for the deceased, it is hoped that the reward will reach them, offering them solace and raising their status.
