اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This powerful dua is specifically recommended by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to be recited after the morning prayer (Fajr) on Fridays. Friday is a blessed day, and the early hours hold special significance. Making this supplication then is a way to begin the day with a focus on what truly matters: spiritual and worldly well-being that pleases Allah.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, preferably after completing the Fajr prayer on a Friday. Raise your hands as you do so, following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. Reflect on the meaning of each request: asking for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah, leading to success in this life and the next.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for a well-rounded life in accordance with Islamic principles. 'Beneficial knowledge' ( 'ilman naafi'an) refers to knowledge that guides us to do good and avoid evil, and increases our understanding of Allah and His commands. 'Pure provisions' (rizqan tayyiban) encompasses not just wealth, but also health, family, and all forms of sustenance that are lawful and wholesome. 'Deeds that are accepted' ('amalan mutaqabbalan) is the ultimate goal, as accepted deeds are those performed sincerely for Allah's sake, in accordance with the Sunnah, and free from riya (showing off) or other corruptions. By asking for these three things, we are seeking a life that is pleasing to Allah and ultimately leads to success in the Hereafter.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when he had said the prescribed morning prayers (Fajr), would say: "O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is useful, for good provisions, and for deeds that are accepted." (Sahih Muslim 1052). Another narration adds: 'Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: 'By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to omit them (these words) in the Fajr prayer.' I (the narrator) said: 'What did he say?' She said: 'He said: O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is useful, for good provisions, and for deeds that are accepted.'
