O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify my heart from sins, just as You purified the white garment from dirt, and distance me from my sins, as far as You have distanced the East from the West.
Allahumma-ghsil qalbī bimā'ith-thalji wal-baradi, wa naqqi qalbī minal-khaṭāyā, kamā naqqayta-th-thawba-l-abyaḍa minad-danasi, wa bā'id baynī wa bayna khaṭāyāya, kamā bā'adta bayna-l-mashriqi wal-maghribi
When to Read
This powerful supplication is particularly fitting for Fridays, as we seek to cleanse ourselves spiritually before, during, and after the Jumu'ah prayer. It's a personal plea that can be made at any time, but its theme of purification resonates deeply with the blessed nature of Friday.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a sincere intention to seek Allah's forgiveness and purification. Visualize the coolness of snow and hail washing away your sins, and the vast distance separating East and West representing how far you wish your sins to be from you. It is best recited with your hands raised, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in many supplications.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a profound request for both internal and external purity. By asking Allah to wash the heart with 'water of snow and hail,' we are seeking a deep, cleansing purification that eradicates the remnants of sin. The comparison to the white garment, which is a symbol of purity, highlights the desire for an unblemished record. Furthermore, the request to distance sins 'as far as You have distanced the East from the West' emphasizes the ultimate goal of complete repentance and separation from wrongdoing.

Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from the burden of debt and from being overcome by men (i.e., overwhelmed by others)." Then he said, "O Allah, grant me soundness in my body, grant me soundness in my hearing, grant me soundness in my sight. There is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You." He said this three times. And when it was Friday, he would say, "O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify my heart from sins, just as You purified the white garment from dirt, and distance me from my sins, as far as You have distanced the East from the West."
