Dua for Inner Strength and Resilience on Friday

Friday / Jumuah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 877

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance that is good and pure, and deeds that are accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This powerful dua is specifically recommended to be recited after the Fajr (dawn) prayer on Friday. Friday, as we know, is a blessed day, and seeking beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds at its beginning sets a positive tone for the entire week. It's a way to consciously ask Allah for the tools and acceptance we need to navigate life's challenges with strength and purpose.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus after finishing your Fajr prayer on Friday. Raise your hands as you normally would for supplication, or place them on your lap if you prefer, and utter these words with conviction. It's about a heartfelt connection, a direct request to your Creator for what truly matters.

Virtues & Benefits

This beautiful dua encapsulates three essential pillars for a fulfilling life: beneficial knowledge that guides us, pure and lawful provision that sustains us, and righteous deeds that are accepted by Allah. By asking for these, we are essentially seeking Allah's help to build our inner strength and resilience. Knowledge helps us understand our purpose and cope with trials, good provision eases our burdens and allows us to focus on worship, and accepted deeds are the ultimate goal, bringing us closer to Allah and providing deep contentment. When our actions are accepted, our hearts find peace, and our resolve is strengthened, knowing we are on the right path.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When the day of Friday comes, at the door of each mosque there are angels who write down the names of those who come first, in order (of their coming). (The case of) the one who is the first to come is like the one who sacrifices a camel. The one who comes next is like the one who sacrifices a cow, then a ram, then a chicken, then an egg. When the Imam sits down (on the pulpit), the scrolls are rolled up and the angels listen to the Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). The one who comes to Jumu'ah after the Imam has sat down is like the one who offered an egg. He (the narrator) said: And Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: 'When any one of you finishes the Fajr prayer on Friday, let him say: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan (O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance that is good and pure, and deeds that are accepted). For if he dies on that day or that night, he dies a martyr.'
