اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent on a Friday afternoon, a time widely considered by scholars to be a special hour for supplication (dua). As the Jumu'ah prayer concludes and the day winds down, this is a perfect moment to turn to Allah seeking inner peace and acceptance of our efforts.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction. Begin by praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Raise your hands, as is customary when making dua, and supplicate with a focused heart. It is also recommended to face the Qiblah if possible. After reciting, wipe your hands over your face, as taught by the Sunnah.
Virtues & Benefits
This specific dua encapsulates three core desires that lead to contentment and peace: seeking knowledge that benefits us in this life and the next, asking for provision that is pure and lawful, and requesting that our deeds are accepted by Allah. When our knowledge is beneficial, our sustenance is pure, and our actions are accepted, our hearts naturally find serenity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often recite this dua after the morning prayer, indicating its fundamental importance for a balanced and peaceful life.
Source & Authentication
Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when he had said the morning prayer, would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is useful, and provision that is good, and deeds that are to be accepted.' (Sahih Muslim 7:117). While this hadith specifically mentions the morning, the principles of seeking beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds are timeless and profoundly contribute to inner peace at any time, especially during the blessed hours of Friday.
