Friday / Jumuah
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone but You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This powerful supplication is particularly recommended to be recited on Friday. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek Allah's help in fulfilling our needs and obligations through lawful means, especially during the blessed hours of Jumu'ah, such as the time between Asr and Maghrib, and the hour of response on Friday.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, believing that Allah (SWT) is the ultimate provider. Raise your hands as you make this dua, just as the Prophet ﷺ would do. Focus your heart on the meaning, asking Allah to protect you from unlawful earnings and to make you independent of all creation through His grace.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a profound request for two essential things: lawful sustenance and independence from need. By asking Allah to suffice us with His halal provision, we are seeking protection from falling into haram means of earning a living. The second part, asking for enrichment through His bounty, means we are praying to be content and satisfied with what Allah has decreed, never feeling the need to beg from or be dependent on others, thus strengthening our reliance solely on Him.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taught him a Du'a to say when he was in debt: اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ 'Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' "O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone but You." This hadith is classified as Hasan by many scholars.
